Edit: Demarco Artis has officially decided not to commit to the University of Kentucky as of Feb. 3, 2016.

With school quickly coming to a close, juniors and seniors are trying to plan out their post high school lives, and for some students that means college. For certain athletes, choosing a college can become less tedious when the colleges are offering a free education. Several football players at Seminole High School have officially committed to a college of their choice after being offered sports scholarships.

Junior Demarco Artis says, “I committed to University of Kentucky. I decided to commit there because I really liked the team and the coaches and overall it seemed like a really great school.” Artis states that he would like to major in business yet focus on football. “The point of it all is to get a free education, so I would focus on football and my business major. After college if I can work my way to the NFL then I definitely will.”

Senior Brandon Moore has committed to the University of Central Florida on a full ride scholarship for football. Moore says, “Out of 25 offers I choose that school because I like the team and the coaches. I felt really comfortable while at the school.” Moore says he will focus on football and his grades while in college.

Senior Daravious Perkins remarks, “I have committed to Augustana University. I talked to a few colleges on the phone but I actually went to Augustana University’s campus and spoke with the coach.” Perkins liked the coaches and the players at the university and felt like it was a good environment for him. He comments, “I would definitely focus on football but I want to major in engineering because I really like math and science. I don’t necessarily plan to go to the NFL but if that opportunity presented itself then I would take it.”

These players said it took a lot of hard work and dedication to the sport they love to get to this point. They have all received full ride scholarships to the school that they have chosen.
