CHERISH LAST HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER

As the first of the four years of high school begin, it seems that it may never end, but in reality, the time passes so quickly that sometimes we forget to enjoy it.

Freshman, sophomore, and junior years fly by, and soon the last summer of high school is here. It is the summer before senior year, which usually means it is the last summer that all of our friends will be in the same place, the last summer to be carefree, have fun, and enjoy life as teenagers, because soon senior year will be over, and life as adults will officially begin. The last high school summer is a time to let loose and enjoy life. It is a time to make everlasting memories with friends, and most importantly it is a time to prepare for the future.

Every person has a different idea about the perfect way to spend their last summer as a high school student, some prefer to work and save their money, while some want to use every last minute to enjoy their remaining time with their friends. Senior Susie Bonacci says, “Ideally I would have liked to spend my final high school summer being at the beach with all my friends,” but really she had to spend some of the summer working also. Although Bonacci may not have had her ideal final summer, some students, including senior Lauren Johansmeyer, made sure to make the last summer the best one. “My ideal summer was just to have fun and hang out with all my friends because we’ll all be getting ready for college next summer,” said Johansmeyer, which she said she definitely accomplished this year.

The final high school summer is such a big event even students who are not seniors yet have an idea of how they are going to spend their summer when it does come. Conor Ellis, junior, looks forward to his last high school summer because he knows he “will be an incoming senior, and one year closer to freedom.” He states he plans to spend the summer “working a lot and spending as much time as possible with friends.”

Although everyone has a different idea about how to spend their last high school summer, one thing that Johansmeyer and Bonacci agree on is the fact that they are going to miss their high school summers, especially because everyone is together. The best piece of advice is to make the last high school summer the best one possible, because it will be the one that is forever remembered.
