DR. BECHT PRESS RELEASE: INAUGURAL AERONAUTICAL SCIENCE PROGRAM

This coming school year 2014-2015 marks the inauguration of a very special and unique college program at Seminole High School (SHS, Sanford, Florida) and the opportunity for our students to be at the forefront in pursuit of challenging opportunities to become 21st Century leaders in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) based careers.

Calling all college ready students interested in the aeronautical and astronautical sciences to join-in on the exciting world of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University [ERAU] and plan their course load to include Dual Enrollment ERAU Courses on site at SHS.

Yes, this is really happening on our school campus.  The Seminole County Public School District and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University are joining forces to have on our campus a soon to be budding satellite campus of ERAU known as The Embry-Riddle Academy of Aeronautical and Astronautical Science @ SHS.  This ERAU Dual Enrollment opportunity at SHS can put our students into astro-drive.

Does astro-drive catch your attention?  This new buzz-word on campus pictures SHS students urgently plotting their curricula to include and complete exciting new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Dual Enrollment course electives in their course line-up.  Inaugural course offerings for the 2014-15 school year include Aeronautical Science and Unmanned Aerial Systems with Dr. Becht as the ERAU Professor.  More courses are being planned for the 2015-16 school year, such as Space Flight, Meteorology, Planetary and Space Exploration, and Spatial Reasoning in 3-D .

This New Dual Enrollment opportunity literally brings the main ERAU home campus on site at SHS, allowing our SHS students to plan ERAU courses side-by-side in their SHS registration course schedule and become students at ERAU – better yet this opportunity from a world leader in Aviation, Aerospace, Research and Education is absolutely free to each SHS student enrolled in the program!  Each ERAU course offering will be taught by an ERAU Professor on site at SHS.  ERAU course credits transfer directly into degree programs at ERAU upon graduating with a high school diploma and a 2.5 GPA or higher.  Course credit earned through local colleges can also transfer to ERAU upon approval of course equivalency with the ERAU courses for that degree program or to other colleges and universities of choice in and out of state.

ERAU offers multi-disciplinary STEM supported degree programs in Business, Marketing, Aviation, Education, Aerospace, Engineering, Political Science, and Commercial Aviation and Space.  Graduates have high-paying careers at their door-steps and our country has a new stream of STEM aware employees for the exciting, thrilling and challenging workplace of the aerospace industries.  Don’t leave SHS without having experienced this unique and new opportunity through The Embry-Riddle Academy of Aeronautical and Astronautical Science @ SHS.  Join our new Embry-Riddle Academy and shoot for the stars in a wide range of new and challenging career opportunities after graduating from ERAU with SHS as your launching pad!

See our SHS Guidance Director, Mrs. Lovett, if you are interested in this opportunity and want to know how to register for these courses or need to solve problems you may have in signing-up for the ERAU Dual Enrollment Course offerings at SHS scheduled for the 2014-15 school  year.
