THE SEMINOLE NEWSPAPER

MEET ACTIVITIES MANAGER: AAISHA SANAULLAH
Peace! My name is Aaisha and this is my second year on staff. I’m sixteen years old and a senior.

Because this is supposed to be autobiographical, let’s start from the beginning. I always complain to my mom that I have a major cultural identity crisis—I don’t know what to identify myself as. Ethnically I’m Indian—yes, the country known for its mangos and tea—but I was born and raised for the first half of my childhood in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I moved to Amurrica right before I turned five, and for the past twelve years, this is where I’ve been chillin’. When people ask me where I’m from, I instinctively say America which earns me are-you-stupid-I-mean-why-is-your-skin-tan looks. Maybe I’m looking for home—I don’t know, because I don’t even know where home is.

I don’t want very many things but when I do make my mind up about something, I know what I want, when I want it, and how I want to get there. So naturally, it’s safe to assume I’m a dreamer—it’s true. I want to be a pediatric neurosurgeon (after a mishap involving my disobedience and stumbling upon my brother having an MRI) but there are about a million and ten other things I love doing.

Writing is one of my biggest hobbies—I post my books online and I hope I can get my work published one day. Alas, all the possibilities the future holds! Life is like walking through a forest blindfolded—exhilarating yet terrifying. But it’s an amazing journey along the way :)

Peace.
