Travis Scott had planned a two-day Astroworld festival that was held in Houston, Texas this past weekend. Unfortunately, the second day of the big event had been canceled due to an unexpected tragedy happening on Friday where eight people who had attended the concert had died and dozens more were injured. During the performance the crowd had spontaneously started surging forward to the front of the stage which left little room for people to move around freely, people could barely stand up straight due to the intensity of the crowd. There were about 50,000 people at the concert that Friday night and law enforcement officers are still not sure what caused the crowd to surge towards the stage, so they’re continuing to investigate that. Many people who were at the concert stated that the crowd was never really calm from the beginning and that multiple fights broke out that day over things like food, merch, shows, anything you can think of.

The authorities decided to shut down the concert forty minutes after the casualties began, which was still earlier than they had originally planned to end it. They didn’t shut down the concert as soon as possible to prevent rioting. With 50,000 people there anticipating a show, there were bound to be people who were upset about ending it early, especially including the fact that the concert was filled with young people. They decided to end it too late and this chaotic crowd took the life of eight people and left hundreds of others injured. The 8 victims’ ages ranged between 14-27, and a ten-year-old was also sent to the hospital due to being injured during the concert. Currently, there is a nine-year-old boy in the hospital under a coma after he was trampled there during the problematic concert. His family is distraught and going through an extremely tough time as they pray he gets better and wakes up soon.

After the chaotic incident had been brought to the media’s attention, Travis Scott posted a video on Instagram expressing how devastated he was that such a thing would happen at one of his concerts. He has also stated that he will be refunding the tickets for all of the attendees who were there that Friday night, he will also be paying for all of the funeral costs for the 8 victims who lost their lives at his concert. Travis Scott has also canceled his appearance at the Day N Vegas, which was going to be held at Las Vegas Festival Grounds and was scheduled for the 13th of November. He claims that he is too devastated to continue performing right now.

Dozens of lawsuits have been filed against Travis Scott as multiple angry fans have begun attacking him on all social media. Many people are upset at the fact that their family member(s) have been hurt due to him not stopping the schedule sooner. Not only is Travis Scott at risk of being sued, but Drake is too.

Student Carla White shares her opinion on the situation by saying “I believe that he could’ve stopped the performance a lot sooner to prevent the number of injuries that happened at the concert. There’s a lot of people saying that he was performing up on stage and couldn’t see what was happening, using that as a reason for him not stopping the concert altogether but think about it, there were ambulances right there. How did he not see them? People were getting trampled and he thought his concert was more important than those people, more important than his fans.”
