A huge line was formed outside of KWC after school this past Friday, January 31st, but this time it was not for an NHS meeting. Over 200 International Baccalaureate (IB) students were crowded around the auditorium eagerly waiting to be let in.
Seminole High School’s club Beta Chi, which is a social club
designed to give IB students an opportunity to have some fun and get an outlet to socialize away from the rigor of their academics, hosted their annual movie night. The evening was filled with pizzas and sweets for students to enjoy followed by a light-hearted and funny movie to end the night. IB senior Sophia Gallego tells us why she loves the annual movie night. “I love Beta Chi movie night because it allows me to have fun with my friends and watch a movie. She’s The Man is a very cutie rom-com and the pizza with mushrooms is always good. Shout out Ms. Meahl and Ms. Bordner for always making it fun!
To get into the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the rom-com “She’s the Man” starring Channing Tatum was shown for Beta Chi members to enjoy. The auditorium was filled with applause and laughter as students watched the comedic film. IB sophomore Nainika Teegavarapu gave me her opinions on the movie shown: “I had never seen this movie before but it was definitely a good one. It was a good mix of funny and cute. It also taught a good lesson because Voila wanted to pursue her passion of playing soccer even after the girls’ soccer team was cut from her school, so she did everything to be able to continue doing what she loved.”
As always, IB students, make sure to follow Beta Chi on Instagram @seminolebetachi to stay up to date with all events!
