The fighting Seminoles had their second game on Friday night against the Lyman Greyhounds at the Lyman stadium. There was much uncertainty about the future of this game, but the Seminoles showed out.
The Seminoles started off strong in the first quarter. The scoreboard lights up with a number six on the Seminole side, after a rushing touchdown. After Seminole made the touchdown, they attempted a two-point conversion, which failed. Seminole then introduces a big play with the first sack of the game. Then came an interception from the Greyhounds, with the ball on the Seminoles 50-yard line.
With a score of six to zero to end off the first quarter, the eventful second quarter began. Seminole opened the quarter with another sack, and a blocked 50-yard punt return for a touchdown. The extra point was made by number 40, Liam Allen. At this point, the scoreboard read 13-0. The crowd was ecstatic when the Seminoles made yet another touchdown, at 15-yard rushing. The extra point is completed, leading the score to 20-0.
Potential disaster then strikes. In the middle of the second quarter, rain poured down upon the field, with lighting following close behind. The band, cheerleaders, dazzlers, and football players were all placed on a one hour and 42 minute lightning delay. At 9:26, the second quarter finally resumed.
Seminole kicked off to Lyman. From the Greyhounds, a 50-yard pass was completed for a touchdown, and the extra point was made. Michael Clayton, number 7, makes a long pass to number 10, Xavier Tucker. This resulted in a touchdown with a successful extra point, Seminole 27, Lyman 7. Three big sacks come just one minute apart from each other. To close out the second quarter, Liam Allen kicks a 37-yard field goal.
The third quarter began, and number 11 Kaeden Reyes intercepted a Lyman pass. Number 8, Khamani Robinson makes a 45-yard rushing touchdown. The extra point is good, making the score 37-7. The Greyhounds make a 50-yard pass complete for a touchdown, bumping Lyman’s score up to 13. Yet another interception is made by number 0, Juan Berchal. The Noles stacked up touchdowns as Michael Clayton made a pass to Anthony Gay III, a successful touchdown.
The third quarter ended abruptly, as for everyone’s safety due to the weather, fans and players were required to go home.
