COLLEGE FOOTBALL: FIGHT FOR TOP SPOT

By now, college football has taken over televisions all over the country, and some Americans are captivated by the sport. This season, there has already been plenty of triumphs and upsets, and being in Week 6 already, there’s no telling what could happen.

Alabama has been a strong force already this season. Last year, the team finished their season at number seven in the overall rankings, but this year, they are beginning to prove how much talent they bring to the table.

The Crimson Tide has already overpowered all of their opponents so far in the past few weeks, and don’t seem to be slowing their roll anytime soon. However, Alabama wasn’t expected to do as much damage as they have been doing.

Junior Christy Cherrington says, “It’s kind of a surprise that they’re on top this year, I don’t think anyone was expecting that.”

Coming off of the 2013-2014 season as well as winning the BCS National Championship, Florida State has yet again claimed the top spot so far this season in the AP Top 25. However, they are currently ranked at number two in the USA Today rankings, behind Alabama.

Though Florida State has continued to show their dominance on the field, it seems is as if they are not quite as strong as they were in the previous year. This season, there have already been too many close games against teams that should have lost easily, such as Clemson and NC State.

Senior Brandon Chin says, “I am extremely confident in Florida State, even though some of their games haven’t been as great as they usually would.”

Another team that is looking to take over the top spot is Oklahoma State, who is sitting at the number three spot in the USA Today rankings. Although they haven’t played as tough of teams as Florida State and Alabama, they too are undefeated so far.

Competing with Oklahoma State and Florida State, the Oregon Ducks are also giving it their all to take over that top three ranking. The Ducks have had quite an impressive record coming from their previous season into this one.

Senior Isaiah Wilson says, “There is a crazy amount of teams that could take the top spot this year; it’ll be an interesting season, no doubt.”
