Ending off the week on April 18th was Seminole’s last pep rally of the year celebrating spring sports! The pep rally’s theme was neon with students encouraged to show support with bright colors shown with the construction vests and shirts. When entering the gym, students were handed glow sticks for the first pep rally while for the second one they were thrown into the crowded stands.
The pep rally kicked off with all the spring sports being called out and running across the gym with their teams. The spring sports included boys baseball, girls softball, girls flag football, regional champions boys water polo, last year’s state champions girls water polo, boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse, boys track and field, girls track and field, boys volleyball, girls tennis, boys tennis, and district champions boys weightlifting. This sports season proved to be a busy one with the numerous teams, but each was shown love through the students’ cheers and claps.
Following the sports team announcement, the lights were turned off and students were asked to turn on their phone flashlights. This little light up segment was to highlight the leadership seniors and congratulate them for what they have done for the school, including the final pep rally they put together. After the lights turned back on from the ceremony, the step team showed their performance.
Then came the junior varsity dazzler performance, which had a few technical difficulties. In the first pep rally when the dazzlers came out and posed waiting for their music to start, the music never started and they had to go back to the stands. While the problem was looked into, the drumline kept students entertained and played a little. JV dazzlers were then able to come back out and perform their dance with working music! After their performance was varsity dazzlers turn. Their music was working fine in the first pep rally until it cut out half way through, the dazzlers continued dancing their routine along with being cheered on the whole way by the whole gym. The second pep rally had less issues but the JV music was still delayed.
After the dances came the grade games! This time it was a relay race where there were three to a team per grade. The race started with one person going through running in a potato sack, then getting to a bouncy ball and bouncing to the end, where they would then run all the way back and tag the next person to go. Once the games were done, the lights turned off once again and the drum line came out for their performance and the pep rally concluded with the tomahawk chop.
Finally, students gathered at the center as usual and chanted. With no more pep rallies left for the school year, we hope students had a fun time and more to come in the future!
