SANFORD PRESENTS ALIVE AFTER 5

Alive After 5 is an event in downtown Sanford that occurs on the second Thursday of every month. Whether it is raining or sunny the “monthly street party” will be held in the historic town of Sanford.

It is from 5-8pm and is at 230 East First Street. Tickets cost $7, and that includes food and beverage samplings. There are usually signs and a banner put up near the time of Alive After 5 in Downtown Sanford, to let people know when it is near. Entertainment includes live music, local artists, food, and beverage sampling. While there, people can also check out local restaurants, gift shops, and the night life.

In order to bring in more people, freshman Matthew Michaels suggested, “They should do free giveaways. They should also have more advertising do that people around the area will know about it.”

In December the event will not be held.

Going to Alive After 5 is a great way to show support for the community of Sanford, and it is a different way to see the businesses around downtown Sanford.

Many people enjoy themselves and like walking down the historic streets and listening to the live music. There are even contests and prizes.

Senior ErinMarie Henderson, who has been to Alive After 5, said, “People of all ages can have fun at Alive After 5. While you are there, you can sample delicious food, dance, sing, and listen to music of all different genres. There are also chances to win prizes and have fun with your community. It is definitely worth going to.”

This is an event for all ages and everyone is welcome. Even if those attending aren’t from Sanford they can still enjoy themselves. There are many things to do and there are many places to visit.

Freshman Cheyenne Dang said, “I have never been to Alive After 5 because I have never heard of it. I’ve never seen signs around my area. Now that I know about it I might check it out.”

If one enjoys viewing historic streets, checking out local businesses, enjoying art, and supporting the community then Alive After 5 is the place to go to. They even have a Facebook page for anyone who would like additional information (search for Alive After 5).
