Dear Educator,

I wanted to let you know about a great opportunity for you to help your top students achieve a premier education in art and design. SCAD invites you to nominate outstanding high school seniors for the
SCAD Distinguished Scholars Award, a prestigious scholarship in the amount of US$20,000 per year. To be considered, students must be recommended by a teacher, professor or school counselor. This scholarship is applicable toward tuition to attend SCAD in Atlanta, Hong Kong, Savannah or online via eLearning, and may be renewed annually, provided the recipient is enrolled and maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0.

With more degree options, course offerings and global learning opportunities than any other nonprofit art and design university in the country, SCAD champions talented students like yours who go on to shape the future of the creative professions. In every program at every location, SCAD emphasizes learning through individual attention in a positively oriented university environment. Life at SCAD is active and engaging within and beyond the classroom. The university experience includes programs and activities that promote student interaction, leadership and community service.

Teacher/counselor nominations and students’ completed application files (including transcript, official test scores and portfolio) must be received by
Feb. 15, 2014. Please nominate students who meet or exceed the following:
  • Minimum 1220 SAT combined math and critical reading score, or ACT composite score of at least 27
  • GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale
  • Outstanding visual arts, performing arts, writing or riding capabilities
  • Honors and awards from competitions, or other recognition
  • Leadership skills demonstrated through co-curricular or extra-curricular involvement

  • Student’s name
  • School name, city and state
  • Your name and position
  • Brief statement (100 words or less) explaining why you are nominating the student to receive a SCAD Distinguished Scholars Award
To be considered, your nominee must complete all SCAD admission requirements prior to Feb. 15. Students should apply online. Questions regarding this scholarship and other financial assistance may be directed to the admission office at admission@scad.edu.
