With the dawn of the new school year, rising seniors settle into their final year of high school–A long awaited year for all students with many excitements to be had. A diverse range of Seminole High School’s (SHS) class of 2026 have multiple plans for their senior year. Let’s hear some ideas from SHS’s wonderful students!
For starters, seniors Mackenzie Reddington and Prisni Nawala share some of their thoughts and ideas on senior year. When Reddington was asked how they feel about finally being a senior, Reddington replied, “I’m nervous, but I’m also really excited. I’m glad I’m almost done with high school though, because I finally get to move on with my life.” Likewise, Nawala was asked the same, to which she said, “I feel hopeful and optimistic, since it’s my last year of high school and I’m going to go off to college soon.” For both students, and the class of 2026 as a whole, bright futures await every student in the class of 2026!
Part of the excitement of being a senior includes all the special events that come along with it. Therefore, Reddington and Nawala were questioned on what senior events they are looking forward to. Reddington says “Mainly prom and field day. I had some friends go to [field day] last year and it really looked like a good time.” In parallel, Nawala claims she’s looking forward to almost every senior event and activities during her final year.
Every school year, seniors look forward to these special events, specifically senior prom, and field day, as Reddington mentioned. Although these senior activities are special memories to be made for class of 2026, predictions on how well, and how successful, the school year will go are important as well. When Reddington was asked their predictions on how well their senior year will be, they answered “I expect it to go well, but hopefully it goes by quickly.” When asked why they wish their senior year would go by quickly, Reddington said “My friend and I finally get to be done with high school, and I do not have to worry about [school] anymore. I also get a new sense of freedom, it is my favorite part about this year and being a senior.” Additionally, Reddington says “I also really won’t be on campus this year either, because I’m taking dual enrollment.”
Moreover, senior year becomes a stepping stone into adulthood. Although many students in class of 2026 will have a variety of experiences, special senior activities such as senior prom and field day are just a few to look forward to. Not to mention graduation, and the newfound sense of freedom that many seniors will acquire in only a few months ahead. Regarding Reddington’s views on graduation, they share “I am really excited, I really am! I finally get to close this chapter of my life and I get to really start being an adult. I am, however, not looking forward to walking that stage, it makes me nervous.” Additionally, Nawala provides her insight on graduation. She says “I am looking forward to new beginnings. I love to meet new people and have new experiences.” In short, both students are ready for their graduation!
All in all, senior year provides insightful new experiences and enjoyable memories to be made. Although the class of 2026 will be signing off this year, the senior year that awaits them is not a year to miss out on. Therefore, best wishes to all the SHS seniors, and live the final year of high school to the fullest!
