Since the beginning of 2020, many popular artists have released new songs and albums. After Hours by The Weeknd and Eternal Atake by Lil Uzi Vert are only two of the many albums that have been released this year. Many other artists are scheduled to release during quarantine, keeping many occupied during the quarantine.

In these unprecedented times, artists are releasing new songs to make it feel as if there is some sort of normalcy in the world. Although it may be difficult for some artists to release new music as they cannot be in their studios to record, some artists are finding new ways to work around the stay at home orders and safely produce music.

“Music has always been in my life, but during quarantine, it has been especially important to me. With not being able to leave the house or do anything with my friends, the new music that has been released has helped me feel like life is starting to go back to normal in a way,” said junior Maddie Cannon.

Along with making and releasing new content, some artists are live streaming concerts from their own houses in hopes of boosting morale. Because a lot of the concerts scheduled for the spring and summer of 2020 are canceled, the virtual concerts are a way for the artists to stay connected with their fans. These are happening on various platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. The list of canceled concerts can be found on TicketMaster’s official website.

Below is a list of new albums that have come out or are scheduled to come out during quarantine:

Eternal Atake by Lil Uzi Vert

Uzi has built an extremely devoted fan base over the past four years of producing music. Eternal Atake, Uzi’s fifth album, has become popular among many of his fans. The song, “P2” has received a lot of attention as it is seen as another take on “XO TOUR Llif3”, one of Uzi’s most popular songs from his past album Luv Is Rage 2. Eternal Atake lasts over an hour and contains 18 songs. RollingStone said the album is “Lil Uzi Vert’s best album yet, with cohesiveness, slick concept, and performance that justifies every ounce of hype.”

“I’ve been listening to Uzi since 8th grade and I have always liked his music. With Eternal Atake coming out, I really feel like he outdid himself. The album deserved all the hype it got and it is definitely one of the best rap albums I have heard. It came out at the perfect time since we were just about to go into quarantine,” said junior Sam Funtow.

After Hours by The Weeknd

After Hours, The Weeknd’s fourth released studio album has been proclaimed one of his best albums by many. When the album debuted, it was at the top of the U.S. Billboard 200. Along with that, the album was The Weeknd’s fourth album to reach number one and made the most sales within the first week of being released the album has 14 songs with “After Hours” and “Blinding Lights” being two of its most popular songs. Overall, the album has been extremely popular amongst different listeners, as it addresses topics such as breakups and relationship struggles.

Along with these two major albums, many artists have released new songs as well, such as:

  • “Toosie Slide” by Drake
  • “@ MEH” by Playboi Carti
  • “Tycoon” by Future
  • “Secret (feat. Summer Walker)” by 21 Savage
  • “Rich Game” by Gucci Mane

During these uncertain times, many may feel uneasy as their daily routines may not be the same as usual and many have had to learn to cope with being at home. Music can help boost morality and keep people occupied doing the COVID-19 pandemic. For a list of upcoming albums that are soon to release, go to Billboards official website.
