From the start of August up until the last few months of school, the class of 2024 has been eagerly anticipating their final year at Seminole High School. For many, this is a time of mixed emotions as they say goodbye to their high school experience and prepare for the next chapter in their lives. To celebrate and honor the accomplishments of the senior class, the class of 2024 representative committee has organized a week of exciting events and activities. This is a time for the seniors to come together, create lasting memories, and celebrate their journey thus far.

Senior Week is an important tradition that recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of high school seniors. It is a time for seniors to reflect on their past experiences and look forward to their future. Throughout the week, special events and activities are planned specifically for seniors, culminating in the highly anticipated prom. This week serves as a way to honor the hard working and dedicated seniors of Seminole High School. To start this week of celebration, on Monday, seniors will be invited to the senior sunrise located on the open football field. Snacks and drinks will be offered for their enjoyment. Many student’s made their way out to enjoy the peaceful morning while proudly wearing their college gear to celebrate their rising to their next steps in life. Along with dressing up, students are encouraged to further dress up for Kindergarten Day on Tuesday, Senior 24 Day, and Senior Citizen Day.

Valerie Blacido, SHS Senior, states: “The senior activities have been so much fun this week, I am most excited about field day and all of the fun games/activities they have planned for us! I feel like senior week is such a fun week, as it really showcases the senior class one last time before we head off, and it’s always fun to dress up and participate. I think one of my favorite moments was the Senior sunrise. It was just an amazing experience to just spend time with the senior class.”

On Tuesday, many students were seen dressed as if they were in kindergarten. From cartoon bags of old childhood memories, to the stuffed animals you could never let go of. Heading back into time, Seniors celebrate their title as they wear their class of ‘24 merch and crowns to their awaited Senior Breakfast. Student’s rushed into the doors and were served by Leadership Juniors/volunteers their catered ihop breakfast and their pre-ordered field day T-Shirts in spirit of Field Day. Along with the designated breakfast, the annual Golden Globes for the class of 2024 to reveal the nonomines.

Laura Trujillio, SHS Senior Class President, states: “I love being able to plan all of the senior events, although it can be stressful, I love seeing it all come together in the end.” Trujillo and other team members on the council have been preparing for this week in ensuring everything is organized and perfect. “I would say the most exciting thing that we are planning this week is field day, and I cannot wait to see everyone have fun.”

As the last two days of senior week approach, the excitement and anticipation continue to grow. Approaching the last two days of the week, students let loose and have fun by dressing up as senior citizens on thursday. And finally, the highly anticipated Field Day will take place, with a variety of fun activities and friendly competition for all. It’s safe to say that senior week has been a blast, and the perfect lead-up to the much-anticipated prom on Saturday night.
