UNIQUE LOCAL CLOTHING STORES TO BROWSE

Unique clothing stores with fresh and interesting fashion, are a must have for shoppers. One of the worst things to experience is the feeling of going to the mall and being bored with every store. Shopping has become a boring chore, rather than an adventure to buy unique articles to add to the closet.

“I feel [chain stores] are more original, but they’re more publicized; more people are going to have the same outfit as you because it is a chain store,” said senior Frederick Hodgin on chain stores.

Besides all the common stores such as Aeropostle, Abercrombie, and American Eagle, many independent stores are right next door. The fact that there are so many underrated stores is sad, and those stores definitely desire more attention for their originality and creative clothing. Creative stores help in picking out wardrobe pieces with cheap costs and great style.

“I try to look for items that go together, even with things I already have,” said junior Maeve Hoppen on clothing stores. “I also look for cost-effective pieces. Variation is something I strive for when I’m cherry- picking what I buy.”

For vintage clothing lovers, there is a great store: Dechoes. Dechoes, (main store found in Edgewater) specializes in authentic vintage clothing from past decades. Pieces from the sixties, seventies, eighties, and nineties can be found nestled in the small store, waiting to be tried on. Dechoes has all sorts of vintage clothing, from old bomber jackets to eighties prom dresses to classically fifties high heels.

“I thought it [Dechoes] was really cool. It was really good quality and the clothes were in nice condition,” said sophomore Allison Miller.

Another noteworthy store is Through the Looking Glass, located in downtown Winter Park. The shop is an independent business that makes costume and statement jewelry. The necklaces, rings, and bracelets in the shop are based off of the latest fashion trends and the popular jewelry brands. The plus is that Through the Looking Glass is not only great for original jewelry, but it’s a lot cheaper than the jewelry the pieces are based off of.

Modcloth is a great fashion choice for fans of the indie look. The shop has all British fashion, containing tons of tops and adorable dresses. The shop has an online website, with cheap prices for clothing and shipping. The style is great for any girly girls looking for a new shop to browse through. The dresses range from girly, to vintage, to classic, giving everyone what they want.

Lulu’s is an online store, similar in taste to popular chain store, Forever 21. The store has a wide variety of products: shoes, dresses, accessories, tops, and bottoms are all sold. The store focuses on individual styles, but the clothing pieces are drawn off of many different influences.

These stores are not the only ones out there. So many more stores are small and unnoticed, but contain a large variety of terrific clothing that can’t be found at many popular stores. Giving a new store a chance might not just widen wardrobes; it might also better shopping experiences.
