If you have ever wondered what it is like to be a part of the newspaper staff, we are here to tell you that it is pretty awesome. From coming up with fun story ideas to seeing your name in print, there is something exciting about being the people behind the paper.
One of the best parts about being on newspaper is how we work together as a team even though everyone has different jobs. Some of us write, others take photos, and some design the pages. But no matter what we do, we all work together to make each issue great. It is fun getting to know people who care about writing and news as much as you do. We have grown to become kind of like a little family.
Another reason we love newspaper is because it gives us a chance to show our creativity. We get to write about school events, sports, clubs, and even topics we care about, like mental health or music. We also get to make fun titles and choose pictures that make our stories even better. Every issue feels like a mix of hard work and fun ideas coming to life.
Although the deadlines might sound scary, they actually help us stay focused. When we finish an issue, it feels amazing to hold the final copy in our hands and know that students around school are reading something we made. It is also cool to hear people talk about our stories and say things like, “I saw your article!”
Newspaper has taught us a lot too. We have learned how to interview people, work with others, meet deadlines, and edit our writing to make it stronger. These are skills that will help us in high school and beyond.
If you like writing, photography, design, or even just being part of a team, newspaper might be the perfect place for you. We are always looking for new people to join us at the end of the year and with this year’s applicants we are sure to have an amazing upcoming staff.
Plus, it is just fun to be part of something bigger than yourself. Every issue feels like a shared success, and that makes it really special. We cheer each other on, help out when someone is stuck, and celebrate every finished page together. It is a team effort from start to finish.
Some days are tough, like when interviews fall through or a story needs to be rewritten last-minute. But we always find a way to make it work. We learn to solve problems, stay organized, and think on our feet. Even when things get stressful, we still find moments to laugh and enjoy what we are doing.
Newspaper has helped many of us come out of our shells. Some of us were shy at first, but now we are confident about sharing our ideas and talking to people. It feels good to know our words matter and our stories help connect the school.
In the end, we love newspaper because it gives us a voice. It lets us tell stories, share news, and make our school a more connected place. We are proud of what we do, and we hope more students will want to be part of something this fun and meaningful. It is more than just writing, it is about making a difference, building confidence, and creating something people actually care about. Being on staff has made us better students, better teammates, and better storytellers.
So if you are thinking about joining next year, do it. You will grow, you will learn, and you will have a blast. And who knows? Maybe the next great story everyone is talking about will have your name on it.
