A NIGHT OF UNFORGETTABLE WINS AND MUSIC: THE GRAMMYS
A night filled with powering performances from multiple artists and groups, and of course, presenting one of the most pristine trophies a music artist can get: a Grammy. From Spanish speaking artist, Bad Bunny, receiving his first album of the year Grammy, to rising singer Olivia Dean winning best new artist, and several people speaking up about global issues, the event was successful and proved that music is not just entertainment, but also a reflection of the world we live in.
This year was the 68th annual Grammy Awards, held by the Recording Academy in Los Angeles at the crypto.com arena. Producers, songwriters, singers and artists gather to celebrate the outstanding achievements in the music industry across a wide range of genres like pop and rap.
Millions of viewers from home tap in to stream the live performances and check out all the interesting outfits celebrities have worn, as well as the messages they convey through their speeches. Several artists made history through record breaking wins. Bad Bunny proved that talent does not need to translate to win. Others used the stage to highlight and speak about social issues and personal struggles. Billie Eilish advocated for what she believed in based on the current situation of the country, after winning song of the year. However, she did face backlash off stage later.
Beyond the awards themselves, the night was filled with memorable performances such as Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild,” where she stunned everyone in a cute white outfit and her backup dancers brought the hype energy in to support her. Some artists filled the stage with bold choreography like Katseye performing “Gnarly,” while others relied solely on vocals and minimal movements to create a more powerful environment. Olivia Dean, a new artist, performed “Man I Need,” in a very classical setting with a variety of instrumentation in the background. The audience was truly able to feel her words in their hearts, since her songs were about relationships and appreciating self love. Celebrities also donned stunning outfits on the red carpet and did a couple poses at the infamous Glambot.
At the end of the day, the Grammy Awards held this year have only reestablished the fact that the event is about more than just honoring the best of the best in the charts. The Grammys aim at redefining the place of music in a world that is constantly changing both physically and mentally.
