Last Saturday, on April 11, Beta Chi had its yearly banquet, bringing together our IB students for one last event to close out the year. Beta Chi, known as a social club at our school, has always been a way for students to connect, meet new people, and be part of something outside of academics. The banquet felt like the perfect way to wrap everything up, giving everyone a chance to look back on the year and just enjoy being together one last time.
The night started off with a few speeches from Mrs. Meahl and Mrs. Bordner, who both talked about the impact Beta Chi has had on students and how much the club has grown. After that, all of the officers were called up, and the club president shared a short speech reflecting on the year, thanking everyone who helped make the events possible. It wasn’t anything overly formal, but it set a nice tone for the rest of the night and made it clear how much effort went into planning everything.
Once the speeches were finished, everyone moved on to getting food and taking pictures. This was probably one of the most relaxed parts of the night, where people just hung out with their friends, took group photos, and enjoyed the atmosphere. It felt less like a structured event and more like a celebration, which made it a lot more fun.
After everyone enjoyed their meals, the superlatives started. Each class had its own set of awards, along with a few for teachers, and they were all meant to be funny. It got a lot of laughs and kept people engaged, especially since everyone was excited to see who would get called up. It was one of those moments where you could tell people were just enjoying being part of the club.
Following the superlatives, the officers played videos they had made for each class. These videos highlighted different moments from the year, and while some parts were funny, others were more sentimental. Watching them made it clear how much had happened over the course of the year and how many memories people had made through Beta Chi.
