Beta Chi organized a Bowling Night for IB students last Friday from 4 and 6 p.m. It provided an opportunity for students to forget about their school work for sometime and socialize. It had been a long week, and students were in need of a good break.
When all the students arrived, the atmosphere was casual and full of excitement. Everyone quickly found their lane and started playing. Some people turned out to be good at the game and scored a few strikes. However, some people laugh at their gutter balls. Students put aside their scores in the game and just enjoyed some good company.
IB is stressful, especially around this time of the year with orals, major projects, and exam prep, but having those two hours not worrying about schoolwork made all the difference. Students talked about their weekends, their highlights of the week, and just random inside jokes, rather than IB and schoolwork. There were cheers and laughter at the bowling alley the entire time.
Yahly Shisgal, an IB junior, shared her experience with Beta Chi bowling. “Bowling was so much fun, and I was really happy to be able to hang out with my friends after a long week of school. This quarter has been very stressful and it was just really nice to get the opportunity to take a break.” Many students agreed with her. After focusing on school all week, it felt good just to relax.
Ashley Kuruvilla, also an IB junior, shared similar feelings. “It was just really nice to not think about school for a little while. We were all just hanging out and having fun. I think everyone needs that.” She emphasizes how small breaks like this can mean a lot during a crazy and demanding school year.
While at the event, students enjoyed bowling, snacks, taking photos, and chatting with all of their friends. Even people who don’t really hang out get to bond a little. It wasn’t about beating one another in bowling, it was about spending time with one another.
It is great to see that Beta Chi’s Bowling Night was a huge success. It was a wonderful opportunity for the IB students to laugh, have some fun, and take their minds off another hectic week. It’s always great to be reminded to not get too caught up in stressful school work and to just have fun.
