Often having full nights and evenings of homework along with other extracurriculars, the constant focus on academia and grades in IB (International Baccalaureate), is definitely a stress factor for the students. But what about time for relaxation and some fun social time? That’s where the club Beta Chi (BX) comes in. Founded a while back by IB English teachers Mrs. Bordner and Mrs. Meahl, this club is definitely one to join if you are an IB/Pre-IB student looking for some fun events to attend with all your friends, and to socialize with IB students in other grades as well!

Throughout the year there are numerous events included with the membership, such as the widely known Beta Chi Banquet at the end of the year, usually in April. As well as the  anticipated BX picnic which is FREE for all Pre-IB & IB students, coming up soon on September 20th! This event is held at Lee P Moore park annually where everyone comes to splash each other with water, participate in fun games, and of course enjoy good food. Other events include, BX bowling, movie night, roller skating, and many more.

Part of the reason that Beta Chi is so successful is because of the officers. Two of the sophomore officers, Noah Gasowski & Boomika Jutu Srinivasan, express their thoughts about being part of the team. Boomika adds that, “People should join Beta Chi because it’s such a fun club where we can meet new people, spend time with our friends, socialize and most importantly relax.” Participating in these monthly events are a great way to spend time away from the stress of studies and homework. Noah explains what his goal as a new officer is: “I expect to have more kids sign up than last year. It’s a great club, and no one should be missing out.” Last year, around 320 students were members of Beta Chi, and hopefully more students will join this year.
