“Service Above Self.” The motto that Rotary International’s Interact Club stands by, applies to every chapter of Interact Club, including Seminole High School’s (SHS)! Interact aims to provide for their local community by encouraging club members to volunteer. For the 2025 to 2026 school year, SHS’s Interact Club has all new officers, and recently had their first meeting of the school year this Tuesday.
New members looking to join Interact Club can expect many social and volunteer opportunities. For example, the new officers of Interact plan on hosting a movie night, a picnic for the club members, and an ice cream social event. The goal of these social events is to encourage club members to get to know each other and relax!
Additionally, Interact is heavily focused on volunteering, and therefore offers multiple volunteer opportunities a month. Members can expect to earn around five to ten hours monthly by participating in opportunities such as helping garden at Hamilton Elementary, Chalk the Walk, math night at Hamilton Elementary, and other local events such as running tables for a Mu Alpha Theta competition. Interact also owns a local garden in Sanford, and all club members are welcome to help out planting, managing and picking the crops grown!
Freshman Mahnoor Chowdhury, who is interested in joining Interact, believes the club is “well put together” and felt welcomed seeing the posters around school. Chowdhury states she is looking to join because she “wanted to do something easy for freshman year, and thought volunteering would be good because [she likes] helping people.”
Similarly, Health Academy senior and Vice President Shafana Nizar looks forward to “interacting with the club members” and “taking more leadership in [her] role and working with the president” to help plan and coordinate Interacts’ many events during the school year!
