Muslim Student Association or MSA is a club where Muslim students can come together and find connections with peers that follow the same faith. The club creates a welcoming space for Muslim students while also helping others understand more about Islam and its traditions. Through events, discussions, and meetings, MSA works to promote unity, awareness, and respect across campus. They had their interest meeting on September 23, and it was a huge success as many students attended.
For many students, Muslim Student Association is a club where they feel they can identify with others who share their religion. “I like MSA because I get to learn more about my religion,” sophomore Maryam Amim stated. Additionally, freshman Sarina Rattansi stated, “I like MSA because it creates a Muslim community at our school.” To them, the club isn’t just meetings, it’s a place where they can feel like they truly belong.
The club does not always stay within the classroom itself. MSA also has outdoor activities quite regularly where the members can relax, socialize with people, and celebrate their love for Islam with their friends. These events allow members to bond outside of school life as well as create memories that stick with them forever.
Volunteering is also a huge part of what MSA accomplishes. Members get involved in service activities like volunteering at the mosque or volunteering at a soup kitchen. These activities enable students to represent the values of service, generosity, and kindness which are key in Islam, as well as effectively make a difference in the community.
The importance of MSA doesn’t end with the activities they provide. For Muslim students, such a space helps in ensuring that they are not isolated or singled out in their experience. It provides them with a support system where they can openly talk about their culture and religion, as well as receive encouragement at school. At the same time, the club shows the rest of the school the importance of diversity and respect, which creates an environment where everyone feels welcome.
At its core, the Muslim Students Association is about coming together, bringing students closer to their religion, to each other, and to the rest of the school. Whether it’s learning, serving, or simply enjoying themselves at an event with friends, MSA gives students a community where they can feel at home and included.
