Picture a night of flashing lights and loud pop music. For the Noles, prom season is approaching rapidly! The timer counts down ever so slightly, and Noles are working hard until the day of prom to find the best prom outfits. Whether it is junior or senior prom, this experience will create lasting memories!
For starters, this year’s 2026 prom theme is Great Gatsby. For students at Seminole High School (SHS), prom will be held at The Hard Rock Live in Universal City Walk. Prom is on April 25th, and the doors will open at 7 pm. During the event, students are provided with food, music, and a great time!
Potentially, the most important aspect of prom is the dresses and tuxedos. Luckily for SHS students, leadership students opened a ‘Bokey Boutique,’ where Noles can purchase a prom dress! During both lunches, students can visit the leadership room to pick out an outfit. Leadership students have set up a fancy boutique for any student who plans to attend prom. The dresses are donated and marked cheaper than dress prices in stores. The Bokey Boutique is a great opportunity for any students to purchase any good quality dress, polo, or suit to prepare for prom. Additionally, students can purchase their choice of clothing using Minga points linked to their student account.
However, there are some requirements for students to shop at the Bokey Boutique. As stated by leadership, students must be in good standing, and they must shop at the boutique during their lunch period only. These requirements are small, but important to know for anyone who wants to shop at the boutique. The shop will be open from April 13 through the 17th.
If the Bokey Boutique does not spark interest, students who plan to attend prom can turn to other stores for their outfits. For example, a popular place to dress shop is Windsor, which has an online store and a store front in the Altamonte mall. Another popular destination to shop for prom dresses is So Sweet Boutique Formal and Prom, which is located in the Oviedo Mall. For the men, Macy’s has good tuxedo options, as well as the Men’s Warehouse in Altamonte Springs. Any online store is generally a good place to look for suits or dresses. However, the fit of the clothing will be hard to judge, so looking online is a good way to get an idea for the kind of piece to buy. Shopping in person gives the opportunity to look for multiple options and try on the clothes and find the one that fits best.
Another aspect of preparing for prom is the accessories, hair, and makeup. Matching accessories such as gold or silver jewelry to the color of a prom dress, or matching a corsage to a tux, is an important aspect of prom that ties the formal look together. IB Junior Wisdom Kanu says that “matching accessories to prom is an important focus of the outfit.” Additionally, Junior Arianna Flores says “I try to match the color of my jewelry to my dress so it fits together well.”
This past week, leadership held a Prom Pep Rally and had a DJ play iconic pop songs to get students hype for prom. The Noles are excited for prom, and as the day approaches, so does everyone’s spirits!
