Christmas is rapidly approaching and so is its spirit. So of course, it means spirit week. This year Seminole High School’s (SHS) spirit week is an interesting one.
Monday: Ski-yee
Monday’s theme was to dress up in some ski attire. Unfortunately, those who dressed up were few and far between. IB sophomore Anya Priyadarshi was “disappointed to see no one dressed up.” She felt as if people needed “more spirit.” IB sophomore Vera Esqueda “wanted to dress up,” but felt as if the theme was odd for a high school in Florida. In fact, she mentioned that she does not even own ski attire such as puffer jackets or ski goggles. Priyadarshi added that she “just wore swimming goggles” because she also does not own ski goggles.
Tuesday: Sweater Weather
Tuesday brought an onslaught of arguably one of the funniest and most creative parts of winter, ugly sweaters. Students take inspiration from the most random items, but the beacon of inspiration is TikTok. Over the years, a multitude of different, quirky, and sweet ugly sweaters have been posted to the platform. Student’s creativity never fails to show when days like these come around.
Wednesday: Family Photos
Even though Wednesday’s spirit day seemed somewhat out of odds and complicated, it was just a sweeter way of saying twin day. People take their friendships to the next level and dress up in matching outfits. While some people keep it simple and wear a plain white shirt, others go all out and wear the most abnormal outfits ever.
Thursday: Holiday Character Day
Make sure not to be the Grinch, technically some people were, but to dress up as their favorite holiday character, not to bring down the holiday spirit. Thursday was filled with an array of colors from everyone’s holiday character costumes. Classic favorites to keep in mind for next time include the Grinch, Frosty the snowman, Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, and the man himself, Santa Claus.
Friday: Christmas Pajamas
Friday was probably most similar to student’s everyday outfits, pajamas. But, they could not just wear any pajamas because what would be the fun in that, they had to wear Christmas pajamas. There is no better way to show some Christmas and school spirit than an easy outfit like pajamas.
