On the winter night of December 2nd, this year’s Troupe 3266 came together to offer a free performance of a variety of acts that they had performed at this year’s districts. The acts began at 6:30 pm and ran until roughly 8:30 pm. Introducing us to the performances of the night were President Kallie Cummings and Vice President Brianna Bulow.
To begin, the first act was a student choreography by Brianna Bulow with the song Blackout from In the Heights. Next came contrasting monologues with The Seagull and Ride the Cyclone performed by Gia Meyers. Contrasting monologues has the performer acting alone with a chair and switching from one monologue to another, typically with different energies. Then a duet musical with I’d Give It All For You from Songs for a New World performed by Brandon Wynn and Kylie Pendarvis. A small group musical of the Prologue of Little Shop of Horrors was performed by Darah Smith, Sofia Njuguna, and Ja’Neriah DeBose. Another contrasting monologue performance with I Quit: A Guide to Leaving Your Job in Style and Should Not Cause Harm performed by Kallie Cummings. Next, a solo musical of Tell Me Why from Amazing Grace performed by Holli Ridinger. Following that were three student-directed scenes consisting of many actors from the troupe. The first being The Crucible, directed by Ayanna Willmore; the second was Columbinus, directed by Darah Smith; and the third was The Wolves, directed by Savannah Credit.
Taking a break from the performances, officers took a moment to recognize superior awards for everyone from last month’s districts. Troupe 3266 received thirty-five superiors and seven excellents! Officers also took a moment to thank supporters for coming to districts, as well as thank both the theater boosters and the director Mr. Cortelli.
Resuming the performances was a musical theatre dance of the song Loud from Matilda: The Musical, featuring a number of dancers in the troupe. Next was a solo musical of What is it About Her from The Wild Party, sung by Brandon Wynn. An ensemble acting of #Viral was then performed, followed by a duet musical of Last Night of the World from Miss Saigon performed by Caelin DeGuzman and Jaden Adams. Another contrasting monologue of Boy Gets Girl and The Rehearsal was performed by Ayanna Willmore. Following that was a duet musical of Wheels of a Dream from Ragtime performed by Brayden D’Abbondaza and Sofie Njuguna. Next, a solo musical of I’d Give My Life For You from Miss Saigon performed by Caelin DeGuzman. A duet acting of Parallel Lives performed by Teddy Camphor and Gia Meyers came after. To end the night, a large group musical of Reasons to Run from Fugitive Songs was performed, featuring many members of the troupe.
Though the night of superiors has ended, make sure to keep up with the theater’s upcoming performances, such as Mean Girls coming this spring!
