Lights, Wings, Runway, and Walk!
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has never missed displaying some of the most familiar supermodels and a few new ones as well. Since its start in 1995, the show has welcomed some of the most well known names in the modelling world including Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, Anok Yai, Gisele Bundchen, and the Hadid Sisters. This year at the 2025 show, however, both new and familiar angels walked the runway like Alex Consani, Candice Swanepoel, Adrianna Lima, and Alessandra Ambrossio. Even Olympic gold medal winner and gymnast, Suni Lee, was featured. One of the first professional athletes to walk the VS runway, Angel Reese, made history this year and gained her wings. Popular influencer Quen Blackwell, was also featured, taking many of her fans by surprise.
The show aired in New York, on October 15th at 7pm EST on the official Victoria’s Secret website, Youtube, TikTok, and Instagram. The pink carpet started streaming at 6:30 pm EST and showcased some fashionable moments from well known A-List celebrities and influencers.
Now of course, no VS fashion show would be complete without the live performances. This year, the artists captured the glamorous vibe perfectly. Kpop group TWICE took the global audience by storm, and Madison Beer who also appeared in her own set of wings. IB Sophomore Ananya Chitradurga says her favorite performance was Madison Beer’s. She expresses that “her vocals were really clear and saved the show that night. Her pink outfit and song choice matched the overall vibe of a VS fashion show.” Madison performed 3 songs including “Make You Mine,” “Bittersweet,” and “Yes”. Madison donned a beautiful pink corset, tall knee high boots, and large pink wings, accompanying the show’s aesthetic chic energy.
This year designers incorporated modern design blended with the timeless aesthetic of every VS fashion show. The runway was transformed into a holographic digital landscape with shades of purple and pink, supporting the overall color scheme of each model’s outfit. Alex Consani was stunned in a beautiful silver 2 piece with huge white wings, which blended the concept of futurism blended with chic glamour.
While models like Candice Swanepoel were in an absolutely breathtaking copper, gem detailed bodysuit, with iridescent wings. Fans across social media like TikTok and Instagram have controversial opinions about this year’s show, but most say it featured a more diverse lineup, and celebrated different body shapes and angels of different backgrounds. However most people were disappointed with the style of the model’s hair as many were expecting blowouts, like the shows in the past, instead of slick back ponytails. Adrianna Lima, after much disappointment, still donned a beautiful black corset set, with huge silver streamed wings.
Backstage, the models were featured in many different interviews, while getting ready. The makeup artists stole the show creating a natural glow radiance, defining the angel’s face. Hairstylists worked to perfection, cooking up the iconic VS waves; although it was not the blowouts the crowd was expecting, the bar still showed volume and matched the outfits. Work behind the runway is really what sets the bar high for a successful show once again. Models continued the fun after the show with an after party. Last year the VS show after party featured glam looks that looked like an extension of the fashion show. However this year, some people decided to opt for comfort instead. Alessandra Ambrosio showed up in shorts and a beautiful black lace top, which allowed a relaxed but stunning vibe, while Irina Shayk displayed a sleek white satin dress.
The event not only celebrated beauty and confidence but also marked Victoria’s Secret’s continued rebrand toward empowerment and self-expression, proving that the fashion show remains an iconic modern style and culture event that evolves with its audience, and society’s trends.
