NAVIGATING ANOTHER SCHOOL YEAR

The first week of school is always hard especially for students who are new to Seminole High School’s campus. Navigating campus can be a hassle considering SHS’s immense student body if one doesn’t have a map. Getting to a class on time can be difficult if the textbook needed is in a locker on the other side of campus. Even getting up in the morning can seem like the impossible.

The beginning of a new year in high school can make some freshmen nervous. Others become anxious as they await the launch of a fresh start.

“Starting high school doesn’t really make me nervous,” said Health Academy freshman Coral Cintron. “The only thing that I think I’ll find hard about high school is adjusting to the larger campus.”

Every jungle has tour guides and for high school the tour guides are called upperclassmen. They can provide help, advice, and insight into an underclassman’s possible high school future.

According to Kristin Dipi to excel in high school a student has to, “Do [well] in all your classes because it’s really hard to bring your GPA up in the end if you slack off.” As a senior, she says the only thing that makes her nervous is, “The end of [senior year]. I’m scared to start my life as an adult outside of high school.”

Many aspects of school are challenging for a variety of students. It can be anywhere from studying for a test to completing a time-consuming essay.

For Pre-International Baccalaureate freshman Drake Goebelbecker, “The homework is the hardest part because it is time consuming and takes time away from my family.”

At the end of the day, any student can be successful in school as long as they possess the right mindset.
