Dear PTSA members,
The PTSA is looking for a worthy young lady to represent Seminole High School and its students and faculty to the larger community off campus. We do this each year by hosting a Miss SHS Scholarship Competition. The Miss SHS winner serves as the school’s student hostess, escorts visitors on tours of Seminole High, is the student representative on the PTSA Board and other committees, and represents the school at meetings, ceremonies and to the general public.
All contestants for this lofty position must be nominated by a club, team, class, or other organization on campus. The nominee must be a Junior or Senior girl, must be a member of the PTSA and must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
The competition consists of 4 main parts:
10% of total points are awarded for accomplishments during the contestant’s high school career
30% of total points are awarded for an essay submitted by the contestant
30% of total points are awarded for an interview the contestant will have with the judges
30% of total points are awarded for the contestant’s talent demonstrated during the Miss SHS talent show.
Five winners will be announced after the talent show portion of the competition. Miss People’s Choice will be the contestant receiving the most votes from the audience during the show. The judges will select Miss Talent, Miss Interview, and Miss Essay as the winners of those individual portions of the contest. Each of those 3 will receive a $250 scholarship. The overall winner will be crowned Miss SHS and will receive a $750 scholarship. All-in-all $1,500 worth of scholarships are up for grabs here. If your student wishes to compete for these scholarships, please have them contact the leadership of their class or club, team or other organization that they are a member of on campus to seek their nomination for this competition.
Applications for the Miss SHS Scholarship Competition can be picked up in the school’s front office. The deadline for submitting applications (along with an essay – 500 words minimum) is November 22nd. Your contestant needs time to get that essay written, so please give this immediate attention!
