‘A’ SCHOOL: BIG WHOOP?

Schools all across the nation are graded upon how well their students are doing on FCAT and how prepared the teachers have made the students. This grading system is very much like any other school grading system by using an ‘A’ has the best and ‘F’ as the worst. Seminole High School is proud to say that they were deemed an ‘A’ School by the Seminole Country School Board!

Executive secretary, Mrs. Sherry Kitner, expressed “It gives the school pride. I personally [feel pride] because it shows what, not only a great leader Mr. Gaudreau is, but it filters down to the students. It’s neat for me to be a part of something that affects so many people.”

Seminole High School has continued to be a B school for the past few years but with the test scores in, it has risen to an A school.

Assistant principal, Mr. Jordan Rodriguez, had some things to say about Seminole being an ‘A’ school: “An ‘A’ rating means that the faculty, staff, and students of Seminole High School collaborated in such a way that the outcome was increased student achievement […] Knowing that the impact I had on a number of students could have been the catalyst that led to their success is a great feeling.”

Seminole High School always gives its best when it comes to helping out their students. It allows students to dual enroll at SSC, take FLVS at the school during specific periods, and they have recently set up a tutoring program that allows the students to participate in fun activates while learning.

Junior Melissa Vargas-Ramirez exclaimed, “The teachers are willing to help you succeed by offering you review sessions, extra material for practice, and many tutoring sessions […] I love Seminole and I’m proud to be a student here. Go ‘Noles!”

Seminole High School will strive to remain an A school and it won’t be hard with the amazing teachers, staff, and students on campus all working together for a single goal: to better the student’s education.
