Rookie Cam Newton throws over 400 yards: Panther’s star quarterback throws for over 400 yards in first two games.

Auburn University star Cam Newton came out of college with a National Championship. Even though this Heisman winner was the first pick in the NFL draft he still had doubters. With this giant chip on his shoulder Cam Newton had to put up or shut up.

Week 1 rolls around and he is a starter in his first regular season game against the Cardinals. What will the young rookie do? Despite some doubts about his ability to be a successful NFL quarterback, Newton came out firing in Week 1, passing for a record 422 yards in his pro debut. That’s enough to shut some of the haters up right there. Then week two rolled around, Newton did the unthinkable; he surpassed his week one total, and threw for 432 yards and a touchdown.

Newton became the first player to ever throw for 400 yards twice in his rookie season. If he keeps this streak he will be on track to overpass Dan Marino in the record books. The most impressive part of Newton’s performance was he single handedly kept the Panthers in the game. Even though both of these games ended up in losses Newton has shown he is the real deal and a star to watch.
