Prom 2011

With the elegance and class of the Upper East Side and a touch of the artistic vibrancy of Greenwich Village, the essence of being caught up in a New York minute was truly captured at 2011’s prom, In a New York Minute.

Focal pieces including the Statue of Liberty, cabs, and a ticket booth were the background to the event. Central Park was recreated in an alcove of the room featuring a fountain, greenery and park benches to pose for pictures. To the right, a line of sketch artists were available to draw caricatures of guests and their dates free of charge for a special memento of the night.

Wrought Iron like miniature models of the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building, and the gates to Washington Square Park provided the centerpieces. Candles adorned the tables and added to the overall ambiance.

While the dinner was unanimously equated to the norm served at weddings, the decadence of the turtle cheesecake dessert made up for it. A rainbow confection of silk, taffeta and satin graced the ballroom. The most popular dress colors this year were royal blue and crimson.

Accompanied by members of the Junior Class Council, the Prom Court was presented. Senior, Mariah Radzak, was crowned and titled Prom Queen for the 2010-2011 school year. Attendants danced the night away to a variety of music until the clock struck twelve. Luckily, their gowns and tuxes didn’t turn to rags neither their limousines to pumpkins. With sparkling blue candle martini glasses in hand, students left the Buena Vista Palace just as glamorously as they arrived.
